Last Friday, I went to brunch at Choices restaurant at Hyatt Regency Oryx in Doha. It's one of the great brunches I've experienced, and I'm surprised that I haven't heard much about it. Upon stepping into the culinary haven, expansive tables beckoned with an enticing spread of Spanish delights – from flavorful tapas and paella to an indulgence of fresh seafood, oysters, and succulent scampi. The authenticity of these Spanish creations resonated, sourced from the cellar restaurant dedicated to the art of Spanish cuisine. As a sweet crescendo, a lavish dessert array unfolded, featuring tempting cakes, a cascading chocolate fountain, and the rich tapestry of Arabic sweets sourced from the Al Nafourah Garden Arabic restaurant. Inside, the ambiance was further adorned by the melodic tunes of a live band, weaving a harmonious backdrop to the culinary symphony. The welcome drink, a refreshing Sangria, set a delightful tone for the brunch experience. At the entrance, a sprawling bar counter stood adorned, offering a plethora of beverages – both spirited and non-alcoholic. Guests were empowered to indulge in a simple drink or indulge their palate further by summoning the adept staff to craft bespoke cocktails or mocktails, ensuring a tailored libation experience. The restaurant had numerous food counters, making it overwhelming to decide where to start. The diverse array of culinary offerings unfolded before me, inviting a journey through an epicurean landscape. From the enticing cold food stations adorned with delectable Arabic appetizers, salads, and an array of cheeses, to the sizzling live cooking stations showcasing the mastery of shawarma, kebabs, grills, pasta, pizza, tacos, and a medley of Indian dishes – each corner held a promise of gastronomic delight, elevating the dining experience to a symphony of flavors and global culinary craftsmanship. The live cooking stations captivated me with their personalized touch, as the skilled chef artfully tailored dishes to my preferences. The delightful surprise extended beyond the exceptional taste to the exquisite presentation, transforming each creation into a culinary masterpiece reminiscent of a meticulously crafted à la carte dish. Additionally, there was an outdoor grilled section with various meats and freshly grilled seafood made to order. The quality of the grills surprised me; they looked good and tasted great. The enchanting ambiance, enhanced by the melodic tunes of a live band, was complemented by the availability of outdoor seating – an ideal choice for relishing the winter festive season in Doha. Parents, myself included, found added value in the thoughtful provision of kids' facilities and engaging painting activities, ensuring a delightful brunch experience for both young ones and adults. The establishment's excellence extends beyond its diverse and high-quality food selection. Noteworthy attributes such as a well-maintained environment, impeccable service, and a range of facilities contribute to making it an exceptional venue for family gatherings and group parties. In summary, this brunch destination excels in providing a comprehensive and enjoyable experience, catering to various preferences and ensuring a memorable time for all.
