Many of you probably have seen or even spammed with their photogenic Whole Japanese Peach Fruit Tarte over various social medias, it was good, for sure. But our favorite among the collection was hands down the Japanese Peach Mille Feuille. Between each flaky and buttery layers were pieces of Japanese peach and custard, peaches were remarkably juicy, sweet yet not overwhelming at all, making it a brilliant idea to pair with the custard. Of course you need to have quality fillings for the mille feuille, but the puff pastry was even important. We loved how flaky and crunchy each layer of puff pastry was, along with a slight burnt aroma, revealing a great combination of crisp, smooth, and juiciness in every bite. And here comes the highlight among the Japanese peach collection, Whole Japanese Peach Fruit Tarte. It came with quite a high price tag but with that intensely juicy and sweet peach, it caught our heart easily. Encased in the lovely fruit was custard and raspberry, which we felt they were just okay, as their flavors weren't as strong as the peach. There was also an almond paste bake tarte down below, mediocre though. Overall it was a brilliant idea to pair custard, raspberry, and peach together, but we were more surprised by the peach than the fillings. Two other items in the Japanese peach collection - rare cheese tarte and roll cake. The rare cheese tarte was mediocre as compared to the others. It came with a crunchy tart case, Japanese fresh cream and rare cheese as fillings and finally topped with thin slices of peach. The cheese wasn’t really strong and heavy in flavor, not to mention the peach definitely did its job well to balance out the heaviness and creaminess of the cheese. Roll cake on the other hand was soft, moist, and eggy as usual. There were a good amount of peach chunks and fresh cream in the roll cake, however the peach flavor wasn’t as strong and apparent as their other creations in the collection. It was said that you cannot make bricks without straw, with such beautifully ripen Japanese peach, it is just impossible to say no to.
